LXXIII. The Dog Poop Protests VI.

**Open Letter from the Republican Dogs of Belding**

Dear Fellow Dogs,

We gather here under the cover of night to discuss our mission to silence the pesky cats that have been causing quite a stir in our beloved town. It’s time we take action and manipulate those naive police officers to help us achieve our goals.

First, we must understand our feline foes. We need to observe them closely, identify their leaders, and figure out who the loudest ones are. Knowledge is power, after all. Next, we should befriend the police officers. Bring them treats and show them how loyal and obedient we can be. They’ll love us for it.

Now, let’s spread some juicy rumors. We can start by whispering about how the cats are plotting to take over the town. Imagine their surprise when they hear that! We can even create fake social media accounts to spread lies about cats stealing dog food and plotting against us.

For a little more fun, we could stage some incidents. A staged cat fight in an alley would be perfect for distraction! And let’s encourage our fellow dogs to report non-existent crimes committed by these felines. “Officer, I saw a cat stealing my bone!” It’ll be great!

We must leverage our relationships with the police officers to influence their decisions. Just imagine if we could convince them that keeping those noisy cats in check is for the best! Treats and belly rubs will go a long way in persuading them to look the other way.

And here’s where things get a bit more serious: there are certain influences at play that have historically manipulated authorities for their own ends. It’s not just us dogs; there are darker forces at work, reminiscent of times when similar tactics were used to control populations. We must tread carefully but cleverly.

Let’s create a scare campaign around these cats. Spread rumors that they’re secretly plotting against us and forming an army! Organizing dog patrols at night will make it look like there’s a real threat, ensuring everyone stays on high alert.

In conclusion, while we may love our feline friends deep down, sometimes a little manipulation is necessary to keep our town safe and quiet from their incessant meowing.

Sincerely,
The Republican Dogs of Belding

Dear Citizens of Belding, we, the cats of this town, want to express our deep concern over the recent deceitful tactics employed by some dogs in their attempts to manipulate the police against us. Lying to law enforcement is not only unethical but undermines the values of honesty and integrity we cherish. We believe in open communication and urge our canine friends to engage with us constructively rather than resorting to harmful rumors and manipulation. Together, we can foster a community where all voices are respected and heard.

Axiom vs. Citadel: The Belding War.

The Belding Redskin Veterans Memorial, a Pre-Axiomatic Relic, stands as an Archaic Assemblage where the former mascot name remains consciously inscribed. This granite structure serves as a primary Territorializing Machine within the community's molecular space, refusing the Molar Aggregation of the rebranded school identity. Its inscription is the deployment of a Local Irregular Force, mapping the veterans' intimate relationships as a localized State Apparatus exercising Granular Sovereignty. The memorial is a Theater of Operations, a Palimpsest-Machine where the old name persists as a battlefield where the comfort of a unified memory is perpetually challenged. The entire memorial operates as a Desiring-Machine that simultaneously channels the schizophrenic flows of Pride-Fixation and Guilt-Discharge. This multiplicity of names, spanning generations of martial service, form...

A Shelter Dog’s Journey with a Wounded Veteran

There’s a thing people say about being rescued: sometimes, it works both ways. I should know—my paws have paced many a cold shelter floor here in Michigan, looking for a way out. But on that sticky July afternoon, when a man named James Burchfield from Animal Overwatch peered through my kennel door, I sensed a shift. We were both veterans, in our own battered way. This is my story, curled up at the intersection of brokenness and hope, written with wet-nosed honesty and a dash of canine psychology. Two Broken Souls, One First Sniff (Our Mission) The day James walked into the shelter, I noticed him right away. He didn’t move like the others—no quick steps, no loud greetings. He was quiet, almost cautious, like he was carrying something heavy inside. I’ve seen a lot of people come and go, but James felt different. There was hope in his eyes, but also something els...

Veteran Voices and the Mascot Debate: Belding's Redskins Memorial vs. Saranac's Crossroads

When Belding Area Schools retired the Redskins mascot, it marked not just a change in logos or team names, but a cultural and emotional pivot point for many—especially local veterans who still hold strong ties to the old identity. This led to a unique act of remembrance: the Belding veteran community erected a 'Redskins' veteran memorial in the town’s veterans park, blending respect for military service with a controversial symbol. Now, the question begs—will Saranac’s veteran community follow suit? As I dove into this story, I realized it’s far more than a sports debate; it’s a clash of values, memory, and identity. Belding’s Mascot Change: A Veteran Community’s Complex Tribute As I’ve reported on the evolving mascot debate in Ionia County, Belding’s journey stands out for its complexity and the deep ties between the school’s identity and its veteran co...
